Tower Party (Day 2)

13th April 2017 By Mike Davies Leave a Comment

Having already removed the antennas the second day is when we swap the two towers.  We need to do this on a working day as we keep the CARC 60ft trailer tower at a builders yard which is not open on a Saturday.  I’m proposing that Maundy Thursday (13 April) as being the best time to do this.

The work will involved removing the existing tower in three sections as well as the current base post.

At the same time the CARC 60ft trailer tower needs to be similarly disassembled.

Following lunch we will level and mortar the new heavy duty tower post to the base block outside the hut while storing the tower section inside the building.

We will also fit the trailer with the old base/tower and return it to the yard for storage.

This is a BIG day’s work and all the help we can muster will be appreciated.  Please volunteer as many hands make light work.  YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!

Tower Party (Day 1)

8th April 2017 By Mike Davies Leave a Comment

The time has come to do some significant servicing on the CARC antenna system.  On three days spread over two weeks we intend to remove the exisiting CARC tower and replace it with a similar but heavy duty version that is currently on the CARC trailer.

The first day on Sunday 9th April will involve luffing the tower and removing all the antennas into the shack for servicing.  This will include removing the tower head unit and securing the feeders into the hut loft.

The activity should be completed during normal club opening hours but please note the parking restrictions that will be necessary to remove the antennas.

N.B. THIS IS NOW ON SATURDAY 8TH APRIL TO AVOID A POSSIBLE CLASH WITH OTHER EVENTS.
