The club is going to run a WSPR Contest for members again this year.
The month will be MARCH has been chosen because hopefully as it encompasses the Spring Solstice we may have better conditions.
At the moment HF propagation is pretty dire.
The Rules will be simplified from last year, and also the scoring made easier.
The new rules have been made and I will send them out in the next day or two.
So get the dust off of the WSPR equipment and keep an eye out for the Rules update.
I’m a former member of the Crawley ARC, from the 1960s. I’d like to be kept posted on the WSPR contest. I’m active on WSPR from Arizona, SW USA, as AA7FV. My G-call, g3sys, doesn’t get on the air very much these days.

I wonder if you by chance know Clive G3NKQ, he is not a CARC member,
but does qso a N7 quite often, and your name rings a bell?
We do have ex Crawley ARC members in VE, and VK who keep in touch with the club.

Hi all,
Following on from the WSPR competition held in February 2016, that so many club members enjoyed, the club thought that it would be interesting to organize a similar but simpler competition for MARCH 2017.
There will be three classes this year:
Single Band 30m
Single Band 20m
All bands.
For single band entries, you may only transmit a WSPR signal on the band of choice during the period of the contest. Anyone member transmiting on more than one band will be classified as entering the all band section.
An entrant in a single band class will score one point for every DXCC entity
(country) as defined by the ARRL for DXCC that reports reception of their transmission an reports it to the master WSPR log. An entrant in the all band class will score one point per entity per band.
The maximum power permitted in the single band classes is 250mW.
The maximum power permitted in the all band class is 5W.
Entrants in the single band catagories may only use a simple antenna such as a vertical, dipole, or cobweb. In case of doubt the CARC chair will determine if the antenna qualifies. Entrants in the all band class may use any type of antenna.
Additionally spececial mention may be made of unique and interesting statistics in the scoring noticed by Stewart.
